IT業界ではありませんが、某精神科の患者さんで奈落の底へまっしぐらな人生を現在進行形で歩んでおられる方がいます。話によると仕事のストレスでどうやら精神科にかかるようになった様なのですが、
(1) 入院してしばらく仕事を抜ける
(2) 職場で怠け者扱いをされてますます働きにくく、ストレスをためて(1)に戻る

こんなこと(1,2)を繰り替えしていたようですが、あまりに入院期間が長いために、
(3) 何らかの経営者側の手段によって会社を辞めるハメになる

という始末。こんな事を繰り返しているうちに
(4) 寂しさを紛らわすために一人での飲酒が習慣づく。
(5) アルコール中毒が疾患に追加される ←いまここ

予想される未来は

(6) 履歴書上の長い「ブランク」を問題視されて再就職が困難
(7) 生活保護で入院したまま老後を迎える

かなり不幸です。
この人物はどこで間違えたのか？と思うのですが、会社によっては(1)の時点でもう抜け出せないこともありうるかと思います。(6)の時点で再就職ができるかどうかが鍵ですが、そんな苦労をするんだったら最初から

(0) 周囲の人間と反りが合わないので転職

していた方がずっとマシな人生ではないかと思います。
